You may already have received several communications regarding the PPWR. Behind this acronym lies the new European regulation on packaging and packaging waste.

The first provisions of the regulation came into effect on 12 August 2026. Some of the requirements directly concern the packaging used by breweries.

1. What does this mean in practice?

It is important to review your packaging now, including:

  • bottles, cans and kegs

  • secondary packaging

  • transport packaging

  • reusable packaging

If your brewery is considered a “manufacturer” within the meaning of the PPWR, certain compliance and documentation requirements may apply. At Brewpark, we have the compliance documents and information relating to the packaging solutions we offer and can provide them to you to help you meet these requirements.

2. Good practices to adopt

Start by taking an inventory of the packaging you use and identifying the compliance information you need.

The PPWR is a complex regulation, and several points still need to be clarified by the European Commission and the French authorities. The information currently available is therefore subject to change.

At Brewpark, we are monitoring these developments closely so that we can best support you. If you have any questions about the packaging and filling solutions we offer, we are here to help and can provide you with the documents you need.

For further information, we also recommend consulting the official information provided by the European Commission, as well as the resources made available by Brasseurs de France and your relevant professional organisations.
